Know the benefits that come from living in a healthy home.

General Q&A

1Is mold in a house dangerous?
Yes. When mold is growing in a home, toxic spores are being released and flowing through the vents and air ducts to every room of the home. The spores are then breathed in by the occupants and can cause serious medical problems.
2Is mold harmful to breathe?
Yes. Mold is definitely harmful to breathe. The severity of the mold as well as the type of mold and the person’s individual tolerance will factor into the actual effects the mold has on the human body. Growth often occurs in hidden places inside a home and is the source of mysterious illnesses.
3What effects does mold have on people?
Depending on the type of spores growing, illnesses ranging from sinus infections and allergies to Alzheimer’s disease and MS can result. Illnesses can be very serious and mold toxins in a body are difficult for family doctors to measure. If you feel sick and the doctors aren’t sure why, getting your home tested for mold is a great idea.
4Can I use bleach to get rid of mold?
No. This is a common misconception. Bleach will cause the mold spores to lose their color and appear to be gone, however, the spores will not die. They will continue to grow without color and using a liquid bleach can even increase the speed at which they grow because of the added moisture and humidity.
5What causes mold to grow all the time?
The individual mold spores are flowing throughout the open air all of the time. When small amount of spores are breathed outdoors, they are combined with such a large portion of fresh air that they rarely have an effect. Sometimes in the spring, the outdoor counts increase and create outdoor allergies. However, when moisture is allowed to dwell on a porous surface inside a building, these few mold spores will attach themselves to that surface and begin to grow at a rapid pace. Once these spores have attached, it takes much more than household cleaners to break their strong hold.
6How do I get rid of mold?
There are over-the-counter products like “Killz” paint that will slow the growth of the spores. However, this will only slow down the problem and can still cause serious health effects. To get your home completely free of mold, call PuriCloud, a certified remediation company.

PuriCloud Q&A

1Is it safe?
Yes. The products PuriCloud uses are all bio-based and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved, green products.
2What should I do to prepare?
The home will need to be vacant during the dry fog process, so plan a place for you and your pets to be during the services.
3Do I need to get everything out of my house?
No. in fact you want to keep as many of your belongings inside the home as possible. Mold spores can get trapped inside fabrics, furniture, and clothing. All of those things should and will be treated as part of the overall treatment of the home.
4Do I need to put my food away?
No. The InstaPURE and EverPURE dry fog solutions used by PuriCloud are FDA approved for food contact. However, to retain the fresh taste of your produce that is left out you may choose to place it in a zip lock bag or refrigerator.
5Do I need to take down paintings and wall art before treatment?
Because the of the dryness of the fog, PuriCloud has never had an issue with wall art or paintings, but many people feel more comfortable taking expensive paintings down or covering them with a blanket.
6How long before I can reenter my home?
Each job is different depending on the size of the home. For a standard size home, it will take three (3) to four (4) hours. Large homes can take up to six (6) hours. We will let you know how long the process will take when the estimate is submitted.
7Does your treatment leave any odors?
Our treatment has been extremely effective as a deodorizer, even for fire or cigarette smoke removal. Pet related odors can be harder to remove, but we have had greats results with removing those. You may notice a different smell when you return. Our customers have described it as a very pleasant smell. However, that will dissipate quickly and over the course of a few days, may not even be detectable.
8Does it kill bugs?
They certainly don't like it and we have seen a lol of scenarios where it has, but the EPA has not approved it as a pesticide, so we try to avoid making any specific claims about bugs.
9Will it get behind my walls?
We create a 7.5 micron size particle. A mold spore is between 12 and 30 microns. So any place a mold spore can get in and find moisture or can get out into your air, the fog will penetrate those areas. In special situations where we know there has been an issue behind a wall, we can poke a few pencil size holes between the studs and treat the back of the wall directly to ensure a sufficient concentration of the dry fog is introduced to the location.
10Will I need to clean everything after treatment?
Not at all. It leaves no residue, so your home and all of your belongings will be as clean as they were when they were brand new.
11How will I know if the treatment worked?
The technicians will take an air sample on the day of your treatment and send that sample to a third-party lab. We will email the lab results to you in about five (5) to six (6) business days from the time of treatment.
12What will the mold look like after treatment?
Although the mold is killed during treatment, the appearance of mold may not be gone. However, it may slightly lighten darker discolorations. We do not physically remove mold stains or dead mold. Our technicians will try to clean them as much as possible. Regardless, the dead mold is completely safe and ready for you (or a general contractor) to physically remove or make any aesthetic improvements to any dead mold stained areas or damaged material. Everything will be perfectly safe to handle after the treatment.
13Will I need to replace my carpets?
Not unless there is something aesthetically that can't be fixed. The dry fog will penetrate the carpet and the carpet pad. We will make everything safe and then whatever you want to do to make things look nicer is up to you.
14How long does it last?
If all the moisture and water issues are resolved, this is a permanent solution. With minor moisture issues like high humidity or condensation on windows, we have tested it out about six (6) years and we have not detected mold growth because of the EverPURE antimicrobial we apply. With major ongoing water issues, you will only get about 90 days of protection.
15How much does the treatment costs?
Puricloud uses an internal calculation that takes into account various factors such as size of home, travel, severity of problem, ceiling heights etc. We have found that our costs can be less than half that of our competitors. Also considering that we not only treat the problem area, but the entire home, we feel confident our cost and treatment process is well worth the value for a healthy home.
16How does your treatment differ from others?
Our treatment is non-intrusive and does not require any demolition. Other mold remediators continue to use traditional and out dated methods such as those referred to as “demolition remediation”.

Unfortunately, experience has shown that disturbing material infected with mold has proven to cause mold infestations to immediately become airborne and spread even further. For this reason, mold is difficult to remove.

Because the nature of mold spores is they are made to easily travel with air drafts, wind and especially, home Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Also, individual mold spores are invisible to the naked eye, making them impossible to visually detect in smaller quantities to see where and how they are spreading. By the time mold has grown into a visible colony, it has already become a health risk, and has already begun the continuous process of releasing more mold spores into the air.

It is extremely difficult to contain mold growth which has been physically disturbed and even expert mold remediators have to go to great lengths to try to keep mold contaminated areas from infecting other parts of a building. Even with the use of High Efficiency Particle Air (HEPA) vacuum cleaners, negative air pressure machines, polyurethane plastic barriers and other tools, remediators will often try to contain mold spores without success.

Using these methods for mold removal is outdated and can require home owners to be away from their homes for several days.

We believe our treatment provides the most effective mold remediation service available in all 50 States. The dry fog system we use quickly releases a thick and dense vapor that reaches ever corner of your home, behind walls, under furniture and into areas others will not. We treat every room in your home and run our dry fog through your HVAC system. We also treat your windows sills, all the drains in your home, and other places mold loves to grow.

Our patented two-step dry fog system has been tested and approved by the U.S Army Corps of Engineers and has been scientifically proven to eliminate mold, allergens, viruses and bacteria, and to provide long term mold growth protection.

Step one (1) of our process involves the use of instaPURE, a sterilizing dry fog which will quickly kill germinated mold colonies and airborne mold spores within minutes. Step two (2) of our process is our EverPURE dry fog that applies an antimicrobial, providing long term protection as a growth inhibitor.

Any reintroduction of new mold to your home from the outdoors, or otherwise, is eliminated after coming in contact with surfaces treated with EverPURE. This antimicrobial provides ongoing protection for at least three (3) months and will continue to work at varying levels after the first three (3) months from the time of your treatment.
17Can you just treat one room or the area that has the visible mold?
No. Our dry fog system is most effective when the entire house and air flow is treated. Our philosophy involves creating a healthy environment where mold and other unwanted microbes will not thrive. This is what allows us to be so confident in the effectiveness of PuriCloud’s dry fog technology and why we can offer a one-year warranty.
18Is the attic and crawl space included in the treatment?
These areas are not normally part of a home’s indoor air flow and as such, would not normally need to be included in a home mold remediation project. However, in some circumstances where there is visible mold and it is preferable to prevent a mold infestation or to prevent damage of infrastructure that could negatively impact the structural integrity of the home, we can treat these areas.
19What is inside InstaPURE and EverPURE?
The solutions are proprietary. Both solutions are EPA approved as green and bio-based products.
20How else will PuriCloud’s dry fog treatment help me create a healthy home?
Not only does our treatment remove mold, but it will also deodorize and sterilize your home by removing unpleasant odors and by killing bacteria, viruses, allergens and fungus.
21Has your dry fog treatment been used in buildings other than homes?
Yes. Some examples of other structures treated include medical clinics, daycares, exercise facilities, prisons, funeral homes, restaurants, cabins and various office and retail establishments.
22Do you provide a warranty?
Yes. We provide a one-year warranty. We will dry fog your home again at no cost if mold returns or mold levels return to an elevated level. We reserve the right to test for mold ourselves to confirm levels. Also, our warranty does not cover mold growth caused by new moisture or water intrusions that occur after PuriCloud’s treatment. We will send a certificate of warranty with your final air quality lab results. Details of this warranty are written on the certificate of warranty which can also be viewed on our website at www.puricloud.com (In the "Warranty" drop down tab, under "Remediation" displayed in the menu bar on the home page).
23How does the Air Quality Test work?
We pump air through a Zefron Air-O-Cell cassette, which captures mold spores and traps them on a small flat substrate within the cassette. We follow strict chain of custody guidelines and immediately over night ship the air sample to the nearest EMLab P&K facility for evaluation. The results are available within five (5) to six (6) business days.
24Other than the two-step dry fog remediation treatment, what other services do you provide and what do you charge for those?
(1) Air Quality Testing. The cost for air quality testing is $100 per sample. (2) Inspection Report. The cost for an inspection report is an additional $600. Inspection reports require a visual inspection of the home with photos. Air Quality Testing is charged separately from inspection report costs. A minimum of two (2) air quality test samples will be required for an inspection report.
25What certifications does your company have?
PuriCloud is a member of the Mold Inspection Consulting and Remediation Organization (MICRO). Our technicians are Certified Mold Remediation Contractors (CMRC). Some of our technicians hold Certified Mold Inspector (CMI) and Health and Safety Technician (HST) certifications.
26Do you carry business insurance?
Yes. Our insurance is with Rockwell Environmental. You can also visit our website www.puricloud.com for coverage information. The Insurance page can be viewed by clicking on the "Remediation" tab on the home page and selecting "Insurance" on the drop down menu.
